For many years, my primary focus was my career as a physicist, engineer and educator. Although I didn’t often think about it this way, there was beauty and creativity in solving problems, designing and constructing equipment for experiments and passing knowledge on to others.
Now in retirement, I find great pleasure in expressing myself through sculpture. A background in scientific equipment design directly applies to visualizing the 3D form of a sculpture. The technical aspects of mold making and casting follow easily from laboratory work. The greatest joy, however, comes from immersing myself fully in the process of bringing a concept to completion, free from deadlines, oversight, and competing time demands. After all, I’ve got nowhere to be, and all day to get there![1]
